SpeedTest Lite is a lightweight, browser-based tool designed to measure your internet connection's performance. It provides accurate measurements of your connection's download speed, upload speed, and ping (latency).
SpeedTest Lite works by transferring sample data to and from your device and measuring the time it takes to complete these transfers. The test consists of three phases:
Ping Test: Measures the time it takes for a small packet of data to travel from your device to our server and back. Lower ping values indicate better connection quality.
Download Test: Measures how quickly your connection can retrieve data from the internet. The test downloads sample files and calculates your speed in megabits per second (Mbps).
Upload Test: Measures how quickly your connection can send data to the internet. The test uploads sample data and calculates your speed in megabits per second (Mbps).
Understanding Your Results
Here's what your speed test results mean:
Download Speed (Mbps): Higher is better. This affects streaming video quality, file download times, and web browsing speed.
Upload Speed (Mbps): Higher is better. This affects video calls, posting to social media, and cloud backups.
Ping (ms): Lower is better. This affects gaming, video calls, and real-time applications.
Reference Speeds
Here are some reference points for internet speeds:
Video conferencing: 3+ Mbps download, 3+ Mbps upload, ping under 100ms
Privacy
SpeedTest Lite respects your privacy. We don't store your IP address or track your browsing habits. The test simply measures your connection speed and displays the results.
